San Antonio

We have had such a good time here in Texas so far. Yesterday (Monday) we were able to go around San Antonio and visit some of our relatives that we haven't seen in awhile. We had fun laughing and enjoying conversation with our loved ones. My brother and sister-in-law and the kids also arrived in San Antonio yesterday so we were able to visit with them also. We started our day today (Tuesday) a little bit earlier. It's a little hard to get used to the 2 hour time difference. We met up with my brother, Lena and the kids at the River Center and took a boat ride down the Riverwalk. Although I have been on some of these attractions before it was David's first time so he loved it. After the Riverwalk we went over to the famous Alamo and spent some time there looking around and taking some pictures. After the Alamo we went over to a famous taco shop called Taco Taco which Bon Appetit voted had the Best Taco in America. I have to say it was delicious. We had gotten there around 2:30 and apparently it closed at 2:00 but they were so nice and hated to turn us Californians away so they said we could come on in. After we left there we went over to the Tower of the Americas. We had so much fun going up the Tower and looking over the observation deck. We then went to the Spanish Mercado and had fun looking at all the little shops. We ended our day by eating at the famous Whataburger and visiting my other sister who had arrived into Austin as well. Well I better get some rest, tomorrow we have a full day planned in Austin!

We've Arrived

So we took off from San Francisco this morning on US Airways at 9:00am and landed in Phoenix around 10:45. It was a pretty nice flight although I was a little scared on the take off and landing. We then took off from Phoenix at 12:05pm bound for Austin. We finally landed in Austin at 4:10 we were about 15 minutes ahead of schedule. We then went straight from the airport to my Great Uncle and Aunt's house who live in Austin to visit. We not only got to visit with some family we haven't seen in awhile but we also got to eat some really good food. We were so hungry and the bbq was delicious. Well we are off to bed to get some much needed rest for our visit to San Antonio tomorrow.

Leaving Tomorrow

Okay so today we got to San Francisco and I was finally able to get my necklace from Tiffany's that I have always wanted. I was so excited. We had so much fun at dinner and then went shopping at Macy's. Well we are finally leaving for Texas tomorrow, I'm so nervous about my flight.

My Trip to Texas

So I am so excited that I will be flying out to Texas on Sunday. For my birthday David surprised me with plane tickets for both of us to fly to Austin. We are having a family reunion in Texas next Saturday so David and I had planned to drive there but he instead bought our tickets so I wouldn't have to go through the drive. It is even more exciting because David has never been to Texas so now he will be able to visit all of the places I have been to as well as meet some family he has yet to meet. Please pray that our trip goes well and that we get there safely and have a wonderful time with our family as well as a safe trip back home. I will try and post daily with some pictures about my trip. We are scheduled to, God willing, fly back home on Easter Sunday into San Francisco and spend the day there and be home that night. Okay well I have to pack, yeah I know it's the night before I leave for San Francisco and I have yet to pack.

My Dad's Surgery

Well I'm not sure if everyone knows but my Dad went in for a heart procedure that he thought he would be in and out the same day last Tuesday, March 24th. Instead they admitted him and scheduled him for Open Heart Surgery two days later. It was a definite shock to the entire family. We were so worried but our Faith in God got us through it. He went into surgery at 8:00am and the surgeon came in around 11:30am to let us know that my dad had made it through the surgery and seemed strong. Those were some of the longest hours of my life, waiting to hear word that my Dad had made it through. I got to see him that night and spend some time with him. I was also able to stay overnight at the hospital on Friday evening. It was a special time that I got to spend with my Dad and be able to help take care of him. We went for walks down the 8th floor, it was precious time that I am so glad I was able to spend with him. God continued to heal him even more over the next couple of days and they released him on Sunday evening to go home. During the week that he was in the hospital was one big long blur. It just seemed unreal. I couldn't believe that my dad was having Open Heart Surgery. But it was a definite eye opener for him and since he has been home he has made some changes in his daily routine. Yesterday I was able to go and visit him at home, it was the first time I had seen him since Sunday. He looked really good and strong. This whole experience I feel God has used to open my eyes to see how precious life is and how important it is to spend time with our loved ones. I would go months without seeing or even talking to my Dad and over this past week I have realized that no matter what is going on in my life family is so important. I know God will continue to heal my Dad and strengthen him daily. I have now given all of my worries to God and I know that it is only a matter of time before my Dad has even more strength then he did before the surgery.

My First Blog

So I thought this may be kind of fun to get started on this Blogging craze. I will try to do this as much as possible but please be patient. So to start I guess I will discuss what is going in my life right now.
I just recently turned 26-years old and am beginning to fear growing old. I know it is a part of life but I just don't like the idea of having a 3 and a 0 by my name when I turn 30. I try not to think about it but every year I'm just reminded of it.
So I just finished up my 3rd week at my job teaching 6th graders. I will say that it is only with God's help that I have gotten through these 3 weeks. I do love my kids and love going to work every day. I don't know how many people could honestly say they love their job, but I do. I can't wait till I get a permanent job, with the economy the way it is I'm not sure when that will be. I am going to the Teacher Fair this Thursday, so I will update with how the interviews went. So far I will be interviewing with Fresno Unified, Madera Unified, and Clovis Unified.
